YK Chung In Memoriam

IPRA pays its respects to Yung Kai Chung (YK) who has died at the age of 97. YK was a long-standing member of IPRA having joined in 1985.  He contributed to the first report of the growth of PR in Taiwan to the IPRA board and council meeting held in Chicago in 2000.

Malou, as she likes to be called, is vice president for marketing and communications for Total (Philippines) Corporation, an affiliate of the TotalEnergies group. Malou was previously director of public affairs at the Asian Institute of Management and is a former assistant vice president at STI Education Services Group.

I hope all of you are doing well. In Japan, the New Year for companies and schools began in April, and we are spending these days noticing the signs of a fresh and new beginning. New employees have joined my company and I am learning new things from these Generation Z, a generation that is the driving force of today’s world. As IPRA President, I have recently had the opportunity to address national PR associations in The Philippines, India, Uganda and Iran. I was greatly impressed by the enthusiasm of the members of these associations to my speech about the public relations approach to this Generation Z.

IPRA backs Ukraine Communication Support Network

IPRA, the International Public Relations Association, has endorsed a PR initiative to create the Ukraine Communication Support Network (UCSN). The network, hosted by the UK-based Public Relations and Communications Association and the International Communications Consultancy Organisation, seeks to coordinate volunteer communications activity in support of the people of Ukraine. The UCSN invites PR professionals around the world to submit proposals for voluntary communications activity. A steering committee, comprised of Ukrainian and international communicators, will oversee approval of these proposals.

IPRA statement on Ukraine: Golden World Awards 2022

Further to the IPRA statement of 10 March 2022 in support of the UN General Assembly resolution calling for the end of hostilities in Ukraine, the IPRA Board has resolved to disallow entries from the Russian Federation for the Golden World Awards for Excellence in PR 2022. This action is consistent with national and international sanctions on Russia.

IPRA statement on Ukraine March 2022

IPRA, the International Public Relations Association, supports the words of the UN Secretary General António Guterres speaking after the 2 March 2022 resolution of the UN General Assembly. Mr. Guterres said: “The message of the General Assembly is loud and clear: End hostilities in Ukraine — now. Silence the guns — now. Open the door to dialogue and diplomacy — now. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine must be respected in line with the UN Charter”.
