Message from the IPRA President: Celebrating peace and freedom May 2024

Dear friends and colleagues,

The United Nations is reiterating its commitment to Africa

That effort is personified by the Department of Global Communications’ (DGC) Civil Society Conference being held In Nairobi, Kenya, on 9 May. IPRA’s senior UN representative Jim McQueeny and youth rep Alexa Moyer participated this week in a town hall meeting in New York to discuss final planning for the event.

Mina Nazari from Iran’s utility company receives a PRO PR GLOBE

Mina Nazari received her PRO PR GLOBE award at a ceremony in Belgrade last week. Ms. Nazari was IPRA’s nomination from 2023. She is manager for public relations and communications at the Power Distribution Company of Tabriz. The PRO PR GLOBE awards are organised by Croatian PR agency, Apriori World. The awards recognise individuals whose work contributes to a better perception of PR by the public. IPRA’s representative to the PRO PR GLOBE awards is board member Jacqueline Purcell.

PR at the next level: connections at the 21st PRO PR

Networking in motion was once again the theme of the 21st PRO PR conference, held recently  in Belgrade, Serbia. The event, organized by Apriori World agency founder and IPRA member Danijel Koletić, gathered more than 30 speakers from all over the world. 

Weaving AI into the fabric of lobbying

Collaboration between government relations and public affairs professionals has the potential to promote the responsible and ethical use of AI. This was one conclusion of the 8th Annual Government Relations Forum.

IPRA celebrates International Women’s Day 2024 at an Inspiring Girls event

IPRA President 2024, Nataša Pavlovic Bujas, attended an event jointly organised by the local branch of Inspiring Girls International and the Academy of Women’s Leadership, in Belgrade. The meeting celebrated International Women’s Day. The guest of honour was HE Ambassador of Sweden, Annika Ben David.

IPRA and the academic community working together to set ethical guidelines for the usage of AI in communications

The Board of the International Public Relations Association chaired by IPRA President, Nataša Pavlović Bujas, has set up a Committee with prominent academics and practitioners to create Ethical Guidelines for the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) in communications. Trustworthy and ethical PR in the AI era is the IPRA President's theme for 2024. These new comprehensive guidelines will help practitioners navigate the emerging world of generative AI. This may be a first step towards its regulation.

IPRA, the International Public Relations Association, has signed a partnership agreement with the Bucharest-based Forum for International Communications. Under the agreement, inter alia, the organisations will exchange information, share publications and help promote the ethical development of the PR profession with our codes and guidelines.
