Beyond UN75

UN’s next fake news initiative resonates with IPRA proposal

IPRA, the International Public Relations Association, reported earlier its opinion that fake news is an under-recognized challenge that inhibits achieving the various goals of the UN. This was a key finding of a global member outreach conducted by IPRA as its contribution to the UN75 dialogue. In its submission IPRA called on the UN Secretary General to declare a day annually to bring worldwide attention to the UN’s own Share Verified initiative. We are thus delighted to report that the UN is indeed doing just that.

The Grand Prix 2020 in the IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence (GWA), the world’s most prestigious PR awards scheme, is The Last Older Person to Die in Loneliness, created by Spanish agency LLYC on behalf of their client The BBK Foundation. Message from the IPRA President: You are (NOT) on mute   July/August 2020

"You are on mute" is a phrase we often hear, experience, or even sense in our online covid-19 influenced daily lives. It is also a situation that sometimes is painfully close to the realities of public relations. How many times have we tried to design campaigns, programmes and activities that for one reason or another have remained on mute? Well, here is today’s good news and it comes directly from the second round of this year's IPRA GWA judging.

Message from the IPRA President: Time to work, learn and harvest  June 2020

It has been a very busy June. The judging of this year's GWA entries has begun and it will be a fierce competition. We have many great campaigns, including a good number of activities dealing with aspects of COVID-19 communications. Another COVID-19 related initiative, the global taskforce giving free consultations to help communications leaders in the crisis, kept some of our members busy. Personally, I had a discussion with a colleague which I found both insightful as well as mutually beneficial. For a free consultation click here.
