After one year of a UNESCO-inspired global mobilization bringing together a worldwide community of communicators, the International Declaration of Communications Professionals and Researchers for a Healthier, Viable, Better World (Interdecom) calls for the continued expansion of solidarity. With major international partners, Interdecom is now launching a second wave of commitment inviting communication groups across the globe to use their expertise to address the biggest threats of our time: the pandemic and the climate crisis.  This announcement is made by Interdecom, the organisation behind the Declaration, Orbicom, the international network of UNESCO chairs in communication, and five major international partners: IPRA, Global Alliance, EUPRERA, ICCO and BLEDCOM.

Message from the IPRA President: Prizes and Presidents November 2021

November is halfway over, and soon we'll all be looking back at the year 2021. This month is both a month of change and repetition. A few months ago, we could all feel a sense of optimism with the reopening of restaurants, bars and even big concerts. Some of us had the luxury of taking a proper holiday again after more than a year. But the world is still struggling with covid-19 and now Europe is becoming a region of concern, struggling with a fourth wave of infection. In the meantime, many of our African brothers and sisters are still waiting for their first vaccine dose, while other countries are stockpiling. All of this should make us think. How can we better communicate risk, science and protective behavior? What's our role, and what can we learn from the past 600 days of emergency and crisis communication?

They spoke in an ancient language. For this was where Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori, the Māori language Moment became an IPRA Moment.

The 2021 winner is Serbian agency Press Office on behalf of their client BASF. The brilliant campaign ‘BASF Start-Up Science’ addressed a Western Balkans issue of severe air pollution from outdated coal plants, old domestic heating systems, and smoke-emitting cars. The BASF project inspired young innovators and scientists from the region to fight air pollution. The project met several of the UN’s sustainable development goals including good health and clean energy.
