IPRA celebrates International Women’s Day 2024 at an Inspiring Girls event

IPRA President 2024, Nataša Pavlovic Bujas, attended an event jointly organised by the local branch of Inspiring Girls International and the Academy of Women’s Leadership, in Belgrade. The meeting celebrated International Women’s Day. The guest of honour was HE Ambassador of Sweden, Annika Ben David.
“According to a recent UN report the gender gap is bigger than ever, and we are facing a key challenge”, explains Bujas. “There will be an alarming $360 billion annual deficit in gender-equality measures by 2030. I believe that gender equality is the greatest human rights challenge today.”

Background to Inspiring Girls International
Inspiring Girls International is an organisation dedicated to raising the aspirations of girls around the world by connecting them with female role models from all walks of life. The organisation grew from a 2013 campaign organized in the UK by Miriam González Durántez. The campaign called Inspiring Women connected girls with female role models living in the UK. Officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, International Women's Day first emerged from the activities of labour movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe. International Women's Day is now celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
