Message from the IPRA President: A rewarding profession August 2023

Hello, dear PR enthusiasts from all over the world.
On 6 July 2023, IPRA judges from Austria, Bulgaria, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, The Philippines, the USA and the UK gathered at the Institute for Directors in Pall Mall, London for the GWA finalists judging. While there are many national and regional PR awards, there is only one truly global scheme: the GWA. Established in 1990, the annual IPRA Golden World Awards initiative recognizes excellence in public relations practice worldwide in a variety of categories, both for agencies and in-house PR. Recipients of the award take particular pride in the recognition granted to their entry as meeting international standards of excellence in public relations. See this year’s winners here. A jury par excellence …
I would like to express my sincere thanks to each and every one of the 38 volunteer jury members from all over the world who contributed their time and expertise to select the GWA winners for 2023. And a special thanks to those judges who managed to travel to London to create the GWA finalists GWA jury. It was the first time since the pandemic that we were able to get together in person – and it was a pleasure.
…choosing excellent winners
A number of entries tackle emerging issues such as virtual reality, cryptocurrency or influencer management. This was my eleventh year as a judge. What fascinates me, just as much as the first time, is the fact that truly outstanding work is instantly recognisable by the creative idea, the level of craftsmanship, the quality of the implementation, and the precision of measurement.
And now we celebrate in Barcelona
The IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence awards ceremony and Gala dinner will take place on Friday 20 October 2023, in Barcelona, Spain. Mark this date in your diary. Along with the Global Contribution Award for PR with an objective of meeting one of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the Grand Prix for Excellence is awarded to the entry judged to represent the highest standard of the year 2023.
