Russia is indispensable for the EU’s energy supply and a core region for Wintershall, Germany's largest oil and gas producer. However, EU-Russia relations are at freezing point.  In Novy Urengoy in Siberia, Wintershall has been operating the Achimgaz joint venture with Gazprom since 2003. The project is distinguished by the excellent collaboration among staff: Russians and Germans work hand in hand under the most challenging climatic conditions.  With Siberian bikers and a Babushka, Wintershall brought the team spirit from the Arctic Circle to Wintershall’s headquarters in Kassel, Germany, breaking down stereotypes and trying to defrost the climate with positive images.
